We were a little worried and so did not book anything through the hotel and locked our valuables up every time we went out. Theft is an unfortunate common occurrence in Vietnam so this is advisable anyway. We are not sure if the management has changed or if he had turned over a new leaf, but he was very helpful with information and was not bothered that we did not book anything through the hotel. The room was clean, large, with fridge, AC, TV and hot water all for $9.very cheap for Ho Chi Minh City. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay we would recommend this place, and like in all low budget hotels in Vietnam, take care of your possessions, a locked room is not enough!Date of stay August 2012ValueRoomsLocationCleanlinessServiceSleep QualityTrip type Traveled as a coupleThis review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I have travelled for many consecutive years of visiting Vietnam and other parts of S E Asia. I like to be positive. I like to give positive reviews of the places I I am positive that I will never stay at this hotel again. unless I see a sign saying ....'Under new Management' I had been in this Hotel for several days, as I have many Vietnamese friends who live and work in this great city. I was enjoying my time in the city. I got on well with the staff of this hotel. Things were fine...... UNTIL........I told the manager that I was moving on. Upon telling him of my intended next destination, he offered to book my travel ticket. I gave him the money for a train ticket , but he ordered a bus ticket. I Never travel by bus in Vietnam due to disabilities. I got a rebate from him and he then offered to order a train ticket as per my initial request. I gave him a half million dong note to cover the cost of the train ticket , as he did not know the exact fare. The booking office was closed for lunch. I was packed ,and ready to leave, just killing time ,waiting for my ticket. When it arrived , I noticed that the cost of the ticket was 265000 vnd. When I asked him for the change , he claimed the change as his commission for the booking service. I don't mind paying for service but when he wanted to charge me more in commission than the actual ticket, I was not willing to be robbed like that. I asked him for my money but he refused , and kept refusing , in front of several spectators. When I told him that I was calling the police, he got very agitated. He returned 200 000 vnd he kept 35,000 for commission then he started threatening me with Violence!!!!!! The spectators , who were from neighbouring businesses , began to remonstrate with him and then restrained him when he began shouting that he would 'beat me!' I left the premises and retired to a friend,s place close by,where I was told that , in Vietnamese culture, ''He who shouts in an argument , loses face'. This man lost face! He has lost my future custom and I hope he loses a lot more! This is not the sort of treatment you want from a manager of a hotel !. Personally I would rather go to one of the other 'Nicer' hotels in the area. Never again to this I see a notice stating ......'Under New Management!'…Date of stay February 2012ValueRoomsLocationCleanlinessServiceSleep QualityTrip type Traveled soloRoom Tip Go down the block! Am Vortag meiner Abreise wurden mir freundlicherweise 150 Euro in bar aus meiner verschlossenen Tasche gestohlen. Die Tasche hatte ich extra an der Rezeption zur sicheren Aufbewahrung abgegeben.
